What is F.E.T.C.H.
When I started the F.E.T.C.H. my primarily focus was to develop ways in which I could use Information Technology as a major tool for skills training, as a unique approach to neighborhood crime-prevention and gun-violence reduction. However, since then F.E.T.C.H. has taken on a life of it's own. F.E.T.C.H. has grown into much more than just a technology driven teaching agency.
F.E.T.C.H. now operates a full-service community school, offering personal development training, entrepreneurship education, grant-writing work-shops, academic enrichment programs, re-entry programs, after-school programs and much more programs and services aimed at personal development for the entire family.
Let's break it down... F.E.T.C.H. is The Family Enrichment Through Community and Hope Learning Center.
F.E.T.C.H. @ Phichol Williams Summer Youth Computer Academy Family -
A core group of people who care about, and take care of each other...allowing enough room for healthy development of skills, opinion and self-image while providing tools and resources necessary for nurturing their wholesome life-styles and prosperous future endeavors. Enrichment -
F.E.T.C.H. @ KCM, Merrit Place and Phichol Williams Summer Youth Computer Academies Community -
1. A social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality, share government, and often have a common cultural and historical heritage. 2. A locality inhabited by such a group. 3. A social, religious, occupational, or other group sharing common characteristics or interests and perceived or perceiving itself as distinct in some respect from the larger society within which it exists (usually prec. by the): the business community; the community of scholars: We employ several tools in trying to improve our community, Information Technology just happens to be of the most effective tools we have employed to date. We are continuing our efforts to establish solid community-based, local-business owned and funded entrepreneurial ventures in each community we serve. It is our strong opinion that community development must start with personal development, therefore we strive to increase our investment in individual, human capital, particularly within under-served communities. To this end we have increased our outreach and expanded our services to families and individuals by way of our full-service community school model wherein we seek to provide comprehensive academic, social, mental, physical, and vocational programs and services to meet individual, family, and community needs.
Hope -
1. A belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. 2. The feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best.
3. Hope was personified in Greek mythology as Elpis. When Pandora opened Pandora's Box, she let out all the evils except one: hope. Apparently, the Greeks considered hope to be as dangerous as all the world's evils. But without hope to accompany all their troubles, humanity was filled with despair. It was a great relief when Pandora revisited her box and let out hope as well. It may be worthy to note that in the story, hope is represented as weakly leaving the box but is in effect far more potent than any of the major evils. In some faiths and religions of the world, hope plays a very important role. Hope can be passive in the sense of a wish, or active as a plan or idea, often against popular belief, with persistent, personal action to execute the plan or prove the idea. Consider a prisoner of war who never gives up hope for escape and, against the odds, plans and accomplishes this. By contrast, consider another prisoner who simply wishes or prays for freedom, but without genuine hope, or another who gives up all hope of freedom.
