Department Chair -  Monica Starke, Ed.D.

Biography

Dr. Monica Starke currently serves as the Chairperson for the Department of Counseling and Training here at the Family Enrichment Through Community and Hope, Inc.

Dr. Monica Starke also serves as a Training Specialist and Consultant in the United States and the Caribbean; she specializes in Leadership, Organizational, and Individual Development.

Dr. Starke has worked as the professional development specialist and internal consultant for Greenberg Traurig, an international law firm, for five years. She was responsible for the personal and professional development of attorneys, supervisors and business staff.

She is currently an adjunct professor with Nova Southeastern University and facilitates seminars for doctoral students in the department of Organizational Leadership (live and online), in Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, Las Vegas and Virginia. She also taught a “Training and Development” course for Barry University. She has presented workshops at Miami Dade Community College, Florida International University and many other business organizations.

Dr. Starke has over fifteen years of experience in the field of adult education and training and she has worked with individuals and groups as a therapist for over fifteen years. She has worked with many diverse groups and specializes in seminars that promote teamwork, effective leadership, interpersonal communication, and effective self-management. She also has extensive expertise and experience in conflict resolution and has worked with individuals, departments, and corporations.

Dr. Starke has worked as a producer/presenter in radio and television and is an avid writer. She has written a weekly column for the Trinidad Publishing Company and other articles for Legal Management journal and the ALA journal, The Network. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Psychology from the University of Miami; a Master's degree in Counselor Education from Florida International University; and, she obtained her Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University in Adult Education with a specialization in Training.
